Participants of the Project for the Development of the Export of Seed and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable have been in Hong Kong and have held meetings with the region's major food suppliers. The food suppliers form Hong Kong, requested black figs, apricots, cherries, lemons, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, tomatoes and pomegranates from the Western Mediterranean exporters.

hold continuous overseas marketing
activities to create alternative markets, to improve efficiency in existing
markets and to reach exports target of 2023. In this context, participants of
the Project for the Development of the Export of Seed and Fresh Fruit and
Vegetable went to Hong Kong, a city which has rapidly increased exports from
Turkey and has trade surplus since 2009. The
delegation consisting of fresh fruit and vegetable exporters, attended the Asia
Fruit Logistica Fair held from 7-9 September in Hong Kong and attended meetings
with purchasing executives of the supermarket chain and with executives of the wholesale market.
West Mediterranean Exporters Association introduced the export products of the region at the booth located in "Turkey Pavilion” of Asia Fruit Logistica Fair, which is the most important trade fair in the Far East. West Mediterranean Exporters had the opportunity to perform business interviews with representatives of the major supplier companies, one of which was the Global Andes Company, at the booth located in the exhibition area. Among the visited and interviewed companies there were Yau Ma Tei Wholesale Fruit Market City's Supermarket, DCH Food Mart and Western Wholesale Food Market. Black figs request from the executive of City's Supermarket was an indication of productive visit. Other firms requested lemons, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, apricots, cherries, pomegranates, tomatoes from our exporters.
West Mediterranean Exporters Association was represented by Secretary General Fisun Evrensevdi Pektas. Hong Kong Vice-Consul Tahsin Güven, Hong Kong Commercial Attaché Ayse Gül Barkçin, Chairman of Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Exporters Association Ali Kavak and members Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Sector Board visited our booth.
