
The Western Mediterranean Exporters' Association (BAIB) organized a Food Sector Trade Delegation to Budapest, Hungary, and Prague, Czechia, between 20 and 26 September 2026.
During the first stage of the program, exporters from the Western Mediterranean region held meetings and visits in Budapest. The delegation visited the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Hungarian counterpart of TOBB, where information sharing and presentation were made by the Chamber.
The delegation was welcomed by Ambassador Balázs Hendrich, President of the Turkish States and Central Asia Regional Committee of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Director General of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary. He answered the exporters' questions about the Hungarian market.
The delegation then carried out inspections at Budapest Central Market Hall and Budapest Nagybani Wholesale Market and also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Budapest, where the delegation met with H.E. Gülsun Erkul, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Budapest.
Following these visits, the delegation met with representatives of supermarket chains and professionals from the fresh fruit and vegetable sector at the B2B meetings organized by BAIB.
A total of 21 company representatives from Budapest participated in the B2B program. Representatives of companies from the Western Mediterranean region operating in fresh fruits and vegetables, citrus fruits, jams, frozen foods and beverages held nearly 100 business meetings.
Ambassador Gülsun Erkul and Commercial Counsellors Nilüfer Kiliç and Sedat Karaoglu also attended the B2B event and supported the participating companies.
After completing its program in Budapest, the delegation travelled to Prague, Czechia, where B2B business meetings were held with Czech businesspeople. The delegation also carried out company and facility visits in Bratislava.
H.E. Metin Feyzioglu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Prague, and Commercial Counsellor Arzu Yildirim attended the B2B meetings and provided the participating companies with information about Czechia.
In the final stage of the program, the delegation, accompanied by Commercial Counsellor Arzu Yildirim, visited the fresh fruit and vegetable wholesale market and supermarkets in Prague.
During these visits, the companies examined products according to various criteria, particularly prices and quality levels.
BAIB was represented during the program by Board Member Akin Veziroglu and Supervisory Board Members Ebru Kocaacar and Ismail Inanç.
The Food Sector Trade Delegation concluded with the completion of the final market and supermarket visits in Prague.
